Sasha Grey grew up in Sacramento, California and attended Highlands High in North Highlands, California, class of 2005. She had her first sexual experience at the age of 16. In 2005, she decided to become an adult performer. She moved to Los Angeles and started her career in 2006 just after turning 18. That year she also appeared on a controversial episode of The Tyra Banks Show where Grey complains that the show represented her poorly.

In 2007 she won 2 AVN awards best three way for "Fuck Slaves" and best group scene for "Fashionistas Safado: The Challange." In 2008, Grey was cast in the Steven Soderbergh film The Girlfriend Experience and was profiled in Rolling Stone magazine's "Hot Issue." The Girlfriend Experience is coming out in 2009 and Sasha was profiled by Rolling Stone again in advance of the premiere.
